At over two kilometers, Victory Beach is quite long, but like Independence Beach, the sandy area is narrow, making low tide the best time. Victory is really two beaches
divided by a rocky point and a small hill.
Set at the base of the very popular Weather Station Hill, the section of Victory Beach in the area of the Vietnam Cambodia Monument (‘Victory Monument’)
is the most popular part of Victory. The beach is a bit quieter and more relaxed than Ochheuteal and there are a few good beach bars and restaurants right on the sand such as Tahiti, Mari-yan Beach
(offering the only pentanque court on the beach), and Map Water Sports with jet skis, boat trips and more. Victory is a particularly good sunset beach.
Right above the beach, Weather Station Hill
(a.k.a. Victory Hill, Port Hill, Backpacker Hill, The Hill,’etc.) is a thriving budget traveler area that also offers a real variety of places - dozens of guesthouses, restaurants of all types, bars,
shops, a couple of travel agencies, internet, CD shops, a scuba shop and lots more, all within a couple/few hundred meters of the beach. The Hill also has some of the best after hours fun in
Sihanoukville, with a variety of bars and night spots concentrated along the main road, many staying open into the early morning.
Victory Beach south of the rocky point is sometimes referred to
as ‘King’s Beach,’ ‘South Channel Beach’, or ‘Lamherkay Beach’, but ‘Hawaii Beach’ seems to be the appellation of choice. Like the other major beaches, southern Victory is lined with umbrellas and little
beach bars, though not as densely as Ochheuteal.
